Spanish Tortilla
Tuesday 21st September 2010
Had a great week off last week with the family. After a trip up to London we picked up Toby, our little cocker spaniel, from his favourite kennels Rising Sun, near Honiton. He was mute from all excitement, which guaranteed a couple of days peace and quiet at home. The weekend was a double header of Erratics cricket matches. Home games mean we provide the tea so for me it was back to back Spanish Tortillas. It always amazes me how they vary each time though I'm sure I do everything the same. Anyway, here's my recipe (actually it's my wife Antonia's but it's the one I use - never as succesfully as she does I hasten to add).

Tapas Recipe
Tuesday 31st August 2010
One of our favourite tapas ingredients are chickpeas or 'garbanzos' in Spanish. Known mainly as the key ingredient in hummus and falafel they also make this great little salad (see below) that can be served as part of selection of smaller dishes to make a great grazing meal or as a garnish with a main course fish dish.

In The Press
Tuesday 31st August 2010
Some of our favourite products have caught the eye of the style magazines recently. 25 Beautiful Homes featured Black+Blum's High & Dry Dishrack and Hilary Green's vases from Dartington Crystal. Costing between £40 and £45 each bottle vase is really collectable and looks stunning with or without flowers.

Spanish food is a family favourite
Thursday 26th August 2010
Everyone here at Moko loves to travel whether it is to take in the sight and sounds of an exotic location or in my case to sample the culinary delights of a different culture. Personally speaking I'm lucky enough to have married into a Spanish family from the rural heart of Mallorca so many is the Sunday we've spent over an enormous paella. When we do go out we tend to head off to Pollensa or Palma for Tapas, one of our favourite lunch time haunts being La Boveda.
Some of the simplest tapas you can do at home are Pinchos, in their simplest form a cocktail stick with a few complimentary ingredients on; try olive, anchovy and caper or cheese, serrano ham and a pickled chilli. Really anything goes, just enjoy experimenting.
Just as easy are Montaditos, a thin slice of baguette or rustic bread with toppings such as grilled red pepper (look for pimiento piquillo in the deli section of the supermarket), king prawn and olive or the same pepper with ham and fried quail's egg. There's plenty of warm/hot variations to. Traditionally they originate in the Basque region but are now popular throughout Spain.
We've just got our hands on this fantastic range of Spanish ceramics which include a tapas tray - perfect for your Pinchos and Montaditos
